No AI Communications

Whereas:

Genuine understanding of socialist theory is essential to the development of a strong and independent working class party, and AI is no substitute for such understanding;

Reliance on AI as a mechanical replacement for learning, as is being increasingly encouraged in formal educational settings, degrades people’s intellectual and creative abilities;

AI frequently and unpredictably “hallucinates” false or misleading information;

RI DSA aspires to cultivate and be led by a group of professional revolutionaries who can articulate the Chapter’s platform and put forth political analyses that cannot be rivaled by AI output;

Be it resolved:

Using generative AI to create any public-facing Chapter communications is prohibited, including but not limited to blog posts, speeches, social media posts, websites, Chapter merchandise, artwork, and videos;

Using AI to assist with minor or tedious tasks, such as grammatical editing or translations, is not prohibited, but AI shall not create the essential content or final product of Chapter communications.
