For Working-Class Internationalism
Whereas:
It is the duty of socialists in the U.S. to oppose every instance of U.S. imperialism, which oppresses workers worldwide;
The international working class is the only force capable of achieving socialism;
The interests of each nation’s working class are opposed to the interests of the national bourgeoisie, even in nations that are targeted by U.S. imperialism;
Similar to the Democrats in the U.S., some of the dominant left parties in other countries collaborate with capitalist institutions such as the IMF, which systematically exploits the poorest countries;
DSA does not belong to a specific international party at this time, and DSA members should be encouraged to learn from and critically evaluate a variety of socialist parties;
Resolved:
Rhode Island DSA continues to oppose all instances of U.S. imperialism, warmongering, and foreign interference in the domestic politics of other countries.
Rhode Island DSA opposes U.S. aggression against Iran and China, the expansion of NATO, the proxy war in Ukraine, the genocide in Gaza, and the blockade of Cuba.
Rhode Island DSA calls for an end to the IMF and the illegitimate debts it collects from the poorest nations on the planet.
Rhode Island DSA recognizes that working-class political independence from capitalists is necessary for the international socialist movement, not only for U.S. socialists.
Rhode Island DSA fights for an international, revolutionary movement of the working class, and supports democracy and rank-and-file control within workers’ organizations, including trade unions and political parties.
Rhode Island DSA calls on the DSA National Convention to fundamentally reorient the International Committee toward anti-imperialism and socialist internationalism.
Rhode Island DSA calls on the DSA International Committee to adopt an ecumenical approach to socialist parties abroad, meeting and learning from a variety of credible workers’ organizations.
Rhode Island DSA shall host discussion and debate on international politics to sharpen the chapter’s understanding of socialist internationalism and anti-imperialism.
