Resolution to Dissolve the Healthcare Committee

Passed by membership: May 28, 2026

Whereas:

  • There is currently no Healthcare Committee chair, and there were no accepted nominations for the position at the last Executive Committee election.

  • Our Bylaws give the power to the general body to dissolve committees under Article IX - Section C if no workplan is presented:
    “If the committee does not produce an acceptable plan on this timeline, the general body may dissolve the group by majority vote.”

  • Our bylaws also state that each committee must have a chair

    • “Effective December 2023, each committee must have a chair who is elected to the Executive Committee by the Chapter (Article VII), with nominations open to the general membership.”

  • Further discussions have been held at Action Forum, on Slack to attempt to understand the desires of membership for the future of the committee.

Be it resolved:

  • The Healthcare Committee is dissolved.

  • Members with good connections to Healthcare Workers should attempt to bring that work to the Labor Committee.

  • Any research or content can be brought to the Communications Committee, or if more appropriate, the Political Education Committee.

  • Executive Committee should work with members of the Healthcare committee to

    • Archive any important documents, templates or records.

    • Guide members of the healthcare committee to other work within the chapter that they may be interested and suited to.
