Resolution to Propose to Lease Office Space Jointly with Red Ink

Whereas:

• Red Ink is likely to close by December of 2026 due to a monthly shortage of roughly $1,500.

• RI DSA will be left without a reliable meeting space and without a registration address if Red Ink closes.

• RI DSA has already passed the Resolution to Seek Office Space and developed a fundraising plan to support leasing an office

• RI DSA has not been awarded matching funds from National DSA to ease the burden of the cost of office rental

Proposal:

• RI DSA will lease an office by the end of 2026 with available space to offer 250-500sqft of space to Red Ink at the cost of $1.00-1.50sqft/mo.

• RI DSA will prioritize office space that offers a separate room or semi-private area for Red Ink to hold all library operations and storage.

• RI DSA will be financially responsible for all utilities and additional fees.

• Term of lease will be at least 1 year

• Depending on the accessibility and separateness of Red Ink, RI DSA may require sole access to the office space on weeknights after 5pm.

• Depending on the accessibility and separateness of Red Ink, accessibility of the office on weekends will guarantee both RI DSA and Red Ink at least 6hrs of reservable time between 9am-9pm.

• Final details of any arrangement would be proposed by the Office Planning Committee and presented to the General Body.
