Title: Video Editor (Volunteer)
Location: Remote / Providence, RI
Time Commitment: 2–4 hours per video (flexible; average 4–6 hours/week)
Reports To: Communications Committee Co-Chairs
About Us
The Rhode Island Democratic Socialists of America is building a powerful workers’ party to fight for a socialist future decided by the many, not the few. Our Communications Committee relies on high-impact video content to amplify our message and engage supporters online and at events.
What You’ll Do
Review and organize raw event footage (rallies, protests, meetings, trainings)
Edit short-form clips for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook (15–60 seconds)
Produce longer recap videos (2–5 minutes) suitable for YouTube and our website
Incorporate titles, lower thirds, captions, and music consistent with our brand guidelines
Color-correct, mix audio, and ensure final exports meet platform specifications
Collaborate on video concepts, storyboards, and promotional strategies
Who You Are
Proficient with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent)
Strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and visual composition
Basic motion-graphics skills (After Effects or similar) a plus
Comfortable working to deadlines and taking creative direction
Passionate about social justice, labor solidarity, and community organizing
